Intel Introduces 300-MHz Pentium® Processor With MMX™ Technology for Entry-Level Mobile PCs and Mini-Notebooks

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jan 7, 1999 -- Intel Corporation today introduced a 300-MHz version of its popular Pentium® processor With MMX™ technology for low-cost mobile PCs and mini-notebooks. Intel's new 300-MHz processor provides manufacturers with a higher level of performance to support current mobile PC designs based on the Pentium processor with MMX technology.

The 300-MHz processor completes Intel's family of mobile Pentium processors with MMX technology which also includes 200-, 233- and 266-MHz versions. Pentium processor with MMX technology-based mobile PCs offer consumers the benefits of anywhere, anytime computing at an affordable price.

Product Features, Price and Availability

The mobile Pentium processor with MMX technology 300 MHz is up to 12 percent faster than today's Pentium processor with MMX technology at 266 MHz. The mobile Pentium processor with MMX technology 300 MHz posts a 3 percent integer performance improvement over the 266-MHz version using Business Winstone*98. Additionally, when compared to the 266-MHz mobile Pentium processor with MMX technology, on multimedia performance the 300-MHz version delivers up to 8 percent faster performance on Norton* Multimedia Benchmark 3.0, and 12 percent faster performance on FPUmark 98.

The mobile Pentium processor with MMX technology 300 MHz is offered to manufacturers in Tape Carrier Package (TCP) and is available today for $144 in 1,000-unit quantities. Consuming 6.1 watts of power, the mobile Pentium processor with MMX technology 300 MHz operates at an internal voltage of 2.0 volts
