Cyrix M II™-333 Processor Raises Bar For Entry-Level PCs

Continues Upward Trend in Pentium® II Equivalent Performance

Richardson, Texas -- June 15, 1998 -- Cyrix® Corporation, a National Semiconductor® company (NYSE:NSM), today raised the bar again for entry-level PCs with the announcement of the Windows®-compatible M II™-333 processor. Cyrix M II™ processors offer no-compromise Pentium® II-class performance while providing aggressive pricing for the growing low-cost PC arena.

Internal testing indicates that the M II™-333 processor continues the upward performance trend of Cyrix's processors, providing performance comparable to 333 MHz Pentium II processors. The M II™-333 allows system manufacturers to offer low-cost solutions at high performance levels - enabling fully featured multimedia systems at entry-level PC prices.

"The speed enhancements of our newest processor enable the kind of workstation-class performance you wouldn't expect at entry-level prices," said Richard L. Sanguini, senior vice president, National Semiconductor's Cyrix Group. "With systems using the M II™-333, OEMs don't have to compromise their profit margins in order to offer state-of-the-art performance at affordable prices to their customers."

Price and Availability
The M II™-333 processor is priced at $180 in quantities of 1,000. The M II™-300, introduced in April, is now available at $135 in quantities of 1,000. The M II™-333 is currently being manufactured on a .30-micron process, and will be transitioning to National's .25-micron process by the second half of 1998.

CyberMax Computer, Inc. will offer M II™-333-based systems beginning this month. "The M II™-333 will enable us to offer a high-performance system at a down-to-earth price," said Tony Renaldi, technical marketing coordinator for CyberMax Computer, Inc. "The M II™-333 processor has provided us with another successful solution for customers who need all the capabilities to run the most popular end-user applications without the penalties of high costs."
