CENTAUR TECHNOLOGY BEGINS SAMPLING THE IDT-C6™MICROPROCESSOR

Offers Better Value to Low Cost Desktop and Mobile PC Manufacturers

TAIPEI, TAIWAN, COMPUTEX (June 4, 1997) Ð Centaur Technology, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDT) (Nasdaq:IDTI), today announced at the Computex Taipei 97 show that it has delivered engineering samples of the IDT-C6 processor to beta customers in Taiwan.

"We are pleased to announce that IDT-C6 samples have been delivered to key customers" said Glenn Henry, president of Centaur Technology. "We are delivering the best performance per watt and per dollar and expect positive feedback from our customers."

The IDT-C6 processor, introduced on May 20, 1997, is expected to offer superior price performance and lower power dissipation than Pentium™ processor with MMX™ Technology, AMD-K6™ and Cyrix 6x86™. The IDT-C6 processor's simple architecture results in a very small die size (88mm2) as well as low power dissipation, making it suitable for the low-cost desktop and mobile personal computer (PC) market. The IDT-C6 processor will include MMX compatible instructions and operate at speeds up to 200 MHz. Both the desktop and mobile version of the IDT-C6 processor will initially be offered in a Pentium™ (Socket 7) compatible, 296-pin, Ceramic Pin Grid Array (CPGA) package.

Based on initial benchmarks such as Business Winstone™97 running on Microsoft™ Windows™95, the IDT-C6 processor offers competitive performance and a very aggressive die size compared to other Pentium-class processors in low cost systems. (Table 1)

Thus, the IDT-C6 will deliver better value to manufacturers of low-cost desktop and mobile PC systems.

The IDT-C6 processor was designed by Centaur Technology and will be manufactured at IDT's state-of-the-art facilities in Hillsboro, Oregon and San Jose, Calif. The IDT-C6 is expected to be available for shipments starting third fiscal quarter 1997, at which time pricing information will be announced. The IDT-C6 will be sold through IDT's worldwide sales organization.
